Course Design Framework
Learning Goals
We enhance student learning by guiding them to solve novel problems by becoming more skilled readers, note-takers and strategic learners. We also help them to expand their toolbox of methods to solve problems by becoming more skilled at explicitly thinking about their reasoning processes, and developing strategies that work for them.
Our ultimate goal is that students generalise these methods and processes to other disciplines and transfer them to other quantitative problem-solving courses and independent work.
Teaching and Learning Activities
We get students to engage in teaching and learning activities, providing students with lots of hands-on experiences that have proven to help students to retain and understand the knowledge and concepts that have been taught according to the learning goals.
Feedback and Assessment
In Pinnacle Education Hub, very often we provide students with assessments to keep track and monitor their performance and we provide feedback to both the students and parents thereafter. It is most productive to a student’s learning when they are provided with an explanation as to what is accurate and inaccurate about their work. One technique our teachers used for giving feedback is using the concept of a “feedback sandwich”x: Compliment, Correct, Compliment. This strategy will ensure that students do not leave the classroom feeling defeated.
